This time of year we are all scurrying around from store to store trying to find that perfect, unique and special gift for each of the loved ones on our Christmas list. Those of us who live here in Maine are truly fortunate to have a heritage of unique artisans and craftsmen that have made the state of Maine synonymous with the best gifts and artistic creations in the world. During the days leading up to Christmas, I want to share some of the best that my beloved state has to offer. I have no business relationship with any of these companies except as that of a customer. These are the places that I shop and I love these things so much that I want to share them with you. Some are very pricey and some are very practical but they all are very MAINE! And just maybe you will find a perfect and unique gift for that difficult to buy for person on your list. So for the next 2 weeks, join me daily for some of my favorite Maine Christmas Gift finds!
The first stop we are going to make is at The Bouy Bat Company of South Berwick, Maine. This is such a clever idea and so very, very Maine.
So that takes care of the kids, so how about something for Dad! How about some Gourmet Sausages! Nothing says love to a man like something for his stomach! Every time Bill and I were in the Lisbon Falls, Maine area we would stop in at Maurice Bonneau’s Sausage Kitchen and stock up on some of Maurice’s yummy sausage. We would pack the cooler with sausage and ice and head home to Sherman. Now with his website we can order over the Internet and have it at our door the next day.
My personal favorite is the English Bangers. I guess it goes back to my English dad and having a plate of Bangers and Mash on Sunday nights when I was a kid. Bill loves the Fall Harvest Breakfast Links and he loves having a Coors Light and some Beer Sausage while watching the Patriots play on Sunday afternoon. And let me add that his Tortiere Pie is one of the best I have ever had. Maurice has some great recipes on his website so be sure to check out the recipe section. So stop by Maurice’s and check out the goodies –
And of course Mom shops for everyone else, but we need to mention some places you can hint for hubby and the kids to checkout for you. Actually I am going to devote a whole post to numerous places that you can send hubby to shop so watch for a post titled “Dad’s Shopping Night” so you can give him some huge hints! But for now I want you to check out “Peapod Jewelry” by designer Ronna Lugosch. Her shop/studio is in Edgecomb, Maine right on Rte. 1. One of my favorite pieces of hers is the lighthouse pendant, which comes in a variety of sizes and colors.
Her “Peas in a Pod” pendant is available in a 2,3, & 4 peasizes to match the number of kids for a sweet gift for Mom.
So be sure to stop by tomorrow for more Maine gift ideas…..and Merry Christmas and a Happy Shopping Trip!!!!!!!!
