How to blog – starting a blog is scary, exciting and fun!
So you want to learn how to blog! Starting your own blog is going to be exciting. It can be a lot of fun, and it can, in time, be financially rewarding! But when you start looking at all the information out there and if you’re not a “techy” person, it can be very overwhelming. I started blogging over 3 years ago and its been quite a journey. I am not a “techy” and so a lot of the info was in a foreign language as far as I was concerned. There are things I know now that I wished I had known back then and a lot t of my lessons have been learned the hard way. I am still undoing mistakes and errors that I made in the beginning but more about that later.
How to Blog … have lots of patience in the beginning!
Daily I receive questions from readers about “how to blog”. Some are from newbies who are just thinking about starting a blog – been there, done that. And others from people who have been blogging a while but are struggling to monetize their blog so they can make a living at it or at least justify their time they spend on it. I was so flattered with the first few requests I got about how to blog that I would send long detailed replies but as the number of inquiries have grown I can’t reply individually anymore. A few months ago I decided that I would create an area on my blog where I could share what I have learned with other bloggers. It has been in the planning stage since the beginning of the year. This section of the blog is a work in process so bear with me as I add more information as time allows.  It is going to take you from the very beginning of the inception of your blog and continue in an order so you can build on each “lesson” and then fine tune your finished product (although you will find that a blog is never “done” and is always a work in progress) steadily growing at a reasonable pace. Trust me – it takes time and patience……..lots of patience! Blogging is a marathon, not a sprint. Some days you will be discouraged. Things like building a following and steady blog traffic take a while. There are no overnight wonders in the blog world. I have The Wilderness Wife blog finally operating the way I want it and I will soon be implementing a new blog. I’ll be building it as I write this blog so I will be able to share the “behind the scenes” effort with you so we can build together.
This isn’t a one night stand….be sure to come back!
Bookmark this page so you can follow along or subscribe to The Wilderness Wife Blog RSS feed so you can receive notification of each new how to blog post each week. My goal is to make this a weekly series. and at the end of each post/lesson there will be tasks for you to complete before the next installment. Each post will be listed on this page with a link so you can start anytime and progress at your own speed. I plan to do this with a number of visual aids in addition to plain text, including Power Point, video and step by step tutorials. As I mentioned before, I am not a techy person. I don’t code my blog. Thank God the ability to code is not necessary as there is plenty of software available that make this very easy. If I can’t answer a question for you, I can usually point you in a direction that will get you your answer!
It’s time to take the leap! You can learn how to blog!
