Disclosure – Compensation was provided by Gulf Electricity for this post but the opinions expressed are my own, and any compensation I receive never influences my honest appraisal of any product or sponsor.
When I think of Gulf, I immediately think gas and oil. I have been a user of Gulf petroleum products since I first started driving (and we will not discuss how long ago that was). When I saw that big orange circle with the blue letters “Gulf” on a gas station, I knew I would get consistent quality product, good service, and clean restrooms (extremely important to a woman). But last week when I was opening my mail, I learned that Gulf has expanded their product line to include electricity. And the electricity is at a great price with additional savings programs for consumers in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Here in Maine, customers of Bangor Hydro Electric and Central Maine Power can switch to Gulf Electricity for substantial savings on their electric bill. As of the writing of this post, the Maine rate per kilowatt hour is $.064. That is a great savings.
But just like the guy in the infomercial, “There’s more!” When Wilderness Wife Blog readers from Maine switch over to Gulf Electricity, they will receive a $10 Gulf Power Points Card that they can use at any Gulf retail location to purchase gas, other products and services. “But wait….there’s more!” As a Gulf Electricity customer, you’ll get $25 automatically loaded to your card for every 5,000 kilowatt hours you use. For the average Gulf Electricity customer that amounts to about $50 a year.
The downer in this whole thing for me is that I don’t live in an area covered by Gulf Electricity. Because of our very remote location, our power is delivered by an electric coop, which has always had the lowest prices in Maine…until now. Guess what, even without the Gulf Power Points Card rewards, Gulf Electricity is cheaper than my coop. I am “Wilderness Wife Green” with envy for those of you who can take advantage of this program. After I am done writing this post, I am emailing my coop and asking them why they don’t have Gulf Electricity as an option for their members.
So if you are lucky enough to be a customer of Central Maine Power or Bangor Hydro Electric, take advantage of this great savings and click on the Power Points Card image below to sign up and start saving on your monthly electric bill.
