This blog has an audience of primarily women (85%) in the age range of 25 -55 years old. They are predominantly college graduates having children and/or grandchildren. They are women who enjoy cooking, crafting, DIY, home decor, and gardening. Their main focus is family, children, and their pets.

Areas of Expertise

Food and Cooking-related Products, and Kitchenware – I have been a homemaker cooking daily meals for over 40 years, and have written and developed many original recipes.  I have preserved food by canning, freezing, and drying. I bake a wide variety of bakery products from artisan breads to cookies. And I am one of the few women in this day and age that knows how to cook on a wood-burning cookstove. We have a 19^th century wood-burning cookstove in our kitchen that is not just for decoration.  I often use it to cook meals in the fall and winter months.

DIY – My husband and I have been homeowners for over 35 years.  My husband, a retired carpenter and cabinet maker, and I have built 2 homes from scratch and remodeled two other homes. We have extensive professional level knowledge of the tools and materials necessary for a wide variety of home improvement and interior decorating projects.

Arts and Crafts – I am a professional level folk artist and crafter.  I have taught decorative painting on a national travel teaching level and have authored nationally published magazine articles for the decorative painting and craft industry, painting videos, and design pattern packets.  My folk art paintings have been published as prints and licensed in the home décor industry. I also have professional level knowledge in the areas of jewelry making, crewel embroidery, decoupage, macramé, scrapbooking, dollhouses and miniatures, woodworking, wood burning, chair caning, furniture restoration and upholstery, dried  and cut flower arrangement, wreath making, and interior decoration.

Gardening – I have been an avid gardening enthusiast having landscaped all of our homes, and have maintained both annual and perennial fruit and vegetable gardens using a variety of organic gardening methods. During summer moths I do a number of posts about gardening and preserving garden harvest.

Children – I am a mother and raised 3 sons, and a grandmother to 6 grandchildren. I am the director of Girls Ministries at my church overseeing ministry outreach and programs to girls from 4 years old to Senior High, and also teach a girls ministry class to 20 3^rd – 6^th grade girls, so I am very much in tune with the interests of girls in this age group.

Pets – We own a purebred dog and 2 cats, and maintain a small flock of chickens. Over the years I have trained and shown dogs in AKC obedience competitions.
