Slow Cooking a Pork Loin Roast can make a sweet and succulent Pulled Pork Sandwich anytime of the year.

Ingredients

  • Dry Rub:
  • 4 tbs. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tbs. cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • Pulled Pork:
  • 4 lb. pork shoulder roast
  • 2 tbs. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup root beer soda
  • 1/2 apple cider vinegar
  • 4 tbs. tomato paste
  • Bulky Rolls of choice

Instructions

  1. Combine all the dry rub ingredients mixing thoroughly.
  2. Rub the “dry rub” over all the pork shoulder.
  3. Heat olive oil in skillet.
  4. Brown pork shoulder on all sides and both ends.
  5. Place pork roast in a 5-6 quart slow cooker.
  6. Pour root beer into skillet and heat to deglaze the pan.
  7. Pour skillet contents into slow cooker.
  8. Add vinegar and tomato paste and place cover on slow cooker.
  9. Cook on low setting for 6-7 hours.
  10. Remove roast from slow cooker and shred with fork.
  11. Serve on bulky rolls with preferred condiments.
